Academic Resources

1. admission, 1) application for korean students.

The applicants for doctoral program should be a possessor of master’s degree of sociology.

• Submit the online application to  Office of admissions.
• Official Master’s Transcript
• Official English Score Reports (TOEFL IBT minimum 99 or TEPS minimum 701)
• Agreement for Verification of Academic Record
• Sociology Department Application Form and Three Copy
• Study Plan and Three Copy
• Two Master’s Thesis
• One Recommendation Letter
• Official Master’s Degree or Graduation Certificate

2) Application for International Students

Please contact  SNU Admission Office.

2. Graduation Requirements

Students must have complete at least two years (four semesters) of enrollment for a master’s or doctoral program. Students may be enrolled up to six years for a doctoral program. No enrollment after those periods will be allowed. Students must earn 36 credits or more for a doctoral program (including credits earned during the master’s program). Students must also score an overall GPA of 3.0 or above. Students must fulfill required courses as follows. 205.730A Seminar in Sociological Theory Construction 205.764 Studies in Sociological Methodology 205.803 Reading and Research (6 Credits) Students must pass the major courses and one of the foreign language tests(Korean, English and foreign language) to attain the qualification to submit their thesis. * Students from English-speaking countries must choose language tests except English. * Students passed alternative courses(Korean Language and Culture 1, 2) are immune from language test.

Should I apply for general admission or international admission?

I have graduated from a university in an english-speaking country. do i need to submit english test scores, is working experience required for admission, are there any financial aid or scholarship available, i am a korean living abroad. am i eligible for an international applicant, how much is the tuition fee.
