Taiwan Scholarship Program

The Ministry of Education (MOE) Taiwan Scholarship Program provides tuition and miscellaneous expenses of up to NTD 40,000 each semester and a monthly living allowance of NTD 15,000 or NTD 20,000. A Taiwan Scholarship may be held for 4 years for undergraduate programs, 2 years for master’s degree programs, and 4 years for doctorate programs. Scholarship applications must be submitted to a Republic of China (ROC) overseas mission and applicants must apply separately to a university or college in Taiwan for admission.
- Eligibility
- Applicants must be a foreign national with at least a secondary school graduation diploma, and an excellent academic record, and be of good character.
- A person in any of the following categories is ineligible to apply:
- An ROC national or an overseas Chinese student.
- A person who already has and is continuing to maintain student status at any university or tertiary college in Taiwan or a person who has already registered to begin studies at a university/college in Taiwan. This restriction does not apply to a student who will complete a degree and graduate that year. They may apply for a Taiwan Scholarship to pursue a higher degree.
- A person who has already studied in Taiwan for a degree at the same level as the one in which they intend to enroll.
- An exchange student or dual/joint degree student who has been admitted to a university/college in Taiwan in accordance with an academic cooperation agreement between the university/college in Taiwan and an overseas university/college.
- A person who has held a Taiwan Scholarship for a total of five years.
- A person who has ever had a Taiwan Scholarship or MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship revoked.
- A person who has received any other scholarship or subsidy from any Taiwan Government agency or any education institution in Taiwan. This does not include any subsidy provided for Taiwan Scholarship recipients by a university/college to cover the outstanding amount of their tuition and other fees if the total amount exceeds the maximum amount paid by the scholarship.

Taiwan scholarship 2022 for international students.
Taiwan Overseas Graduate Scholarship Program is now accepting applications from international students interested in studying in Taiwan. So, International students interested in pursuing postgraduate studies in Taiwan can apply for the Taiwan International Graduate Program Scholarship 2022. However, the programme aims to attract elite students from all around the world and train them in cutting-edge research fields.
Furthermore, Taiwan scholarships are widely available, and courses are taught in English. So, If you have completed an undergraduate degree, you can apply straight to the TIGP PhD programme. Also, you will be admitted to the Masters’ Degree programme first, followed by the Advanced PhD programme. Moreover, there are several Academic Fields and Majors accessible with NO Application Fee. Hence, applicants who graduated from universities where English is the predominant language of instruction may be excused from the English proficiency exam. Visegrad–Taiwan Scholarships
Visegrad–Taiwan Scholarships facilitate academic mobility between the V4 region and Taiwan by providing financial support to PhD candidates and doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, who are citizens of the V4 countries, to study/conduct research at selected higher-education institutions in Taiwan.
Visegrad–Taiwan Scholarships offer funding for PhD candidates (early-stage researchers), and doctoral and postdoctoral scholars (experienced researchers) to study/conduct research in Taiwan. The program is run in cooperation with the National Science and Technology Council , Taiwan.
- Eligible candidates: Visegrad–Taiwan Scholarships offer funding for PhD candidates (early-stage researchers), and doctoral and postdoctoral scholars (experienced researchers) to study/conduct research in Taiwan.
- Areas of support: a) Nanotechnology , b) Electro-technical industry , c) Biotechnology , d) Information technology , e) Public health , f) Social sciences and humanities , or g) Other
- Length of support: 1–10 months
- The amount of the support is €1,000/month for each scholar + €1,000 in the form of a one-time travel grant (tuition and other costs associated with the research are covered by the Taiwanese side)
- A scan of the highest obtained university diploma with transcript (in English or translated into English);
- Scanned verified confirmation of current enrollment /involvement in PhD study/research issued by the present university/institution (document on a letterhead paper and confirmed—i.e., stamped and signed—by the present university/institution;
- A scanned letter of acceptance or an equivalent document (e.g., invitation letter) from the host university/institution containing a detailed working plan of the study/research period (not older than 3 months when submitting the application)—please consult the list of eligible host institutions (below);
- Scans of two letters of recommendation , with one of them issued by the supervisor (leader of the research group in case of postdoctoral scholars) at the present university/institution, stating that the supervisor/leader agrees with the proposed stay abroad.

Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF) offers Higher Education Scholarship Program for international students to study for Undergraduate (4 years), Masters (2 years) and PhD (4 years) Degrees at renowned partner universities in Taiwan 2022.
International education and training has long been one of the TaiwanICDF’s core operations, among many others. Human resources development programs play a vital role in assisting partner countries achieve sustainable development, and education is a crucial mechanism for training workforces in developing countries.
The TaiwanICDF provides scholarships for higher education and has developed undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. programs in cooperation with renowned partner universities in Taiwan.
The scholarship recipients gets a full scholarship, including return airfare, housing, tuition and credit fees, insurance, textbook costs and a monthly allowance.
Eligibility Criteria
An applicant must:
- Be a citizen of List of Countries Eligible (including select African countries) for TaiwanICDF Scholarship, and satisfy any specific criteria established by his or her country and/or government of citizenship.
- Neither be a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan) nor an overseas compatriot student.
- Satisfy the admission requirements of the partner university to which he or she has applied to study under a TaiwanICDF scholarship.
- Be able to satisfy all requirements for a Resident Visa (Code: FS) set by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) set by the Ministry of the Interior, of the ROC (Taiwan) government (this means that the TaiwanICDF has the right to revoke a scholarship offered if an applicant cannot satisfy the visa requirements).
- Upon accepting a TaiwanICDF scholarship, not hold any other ROC(Taiwan) government-sponsored scholarship (such as the Taiwan Scholarship) in the same academic year in which the TaiwanICDF scholarship would be due to commence.
- Not be applying for a further TaiwanICDF scholarship in unbroken succession — applicants who have already held a TaiwanICDF scholarship must have returned to their home country for more than one year before re-applying.
- Have never had any scholarship revoked by any ROC (Taiwan) government agency or related institution, nor been expelled from any Taiwanese university.
- The students of eligible countries of the region of Asia Pacific, West Asia, Africa (Burkina Faso, Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, South Africa, Swaziland), Caribbean, Central America, South America, Europe can apply for this scholarship.

- Undergraduate Program (maximum four years): Each student receives NT$12,000 per month (NT$144,000 per year) as an allowance for food and miscellaneous living expenses.
Application Process
- Applicants must complete an online application (found in Program Webpage link below). Then submit a signed, printed copy along with all other application documents to the ROC (Taiwan) Embassy/ Consulate (General)/ Representative Office/ Taiwan Technical Mission or project representative in their country.
- Please note that each applicant can only apply for one program at a time. The applicant also needs to submit a separate program application to his/her chosen universities.
