Generate Serial Numbers at Job Release Customization for Epicor 9
Serial numbers will be created from Job Entry with a new button that will use the current job number displayed and the production quantity for the number of serial numbers to create.
Customer requirement: If the sn is assigned as part of this transaction, the composition of the sn should be the job number, including leading zeroes, followed by a dash (“-“), followed by an incremental serial number. As part of serial entry as launched from the Job Entry, the serial prefix should be auto-populated with the job number followed by a dash, and the number range begin with 001 (the number of digits and leading zeroes will be determined by the number of digits on the Production Quantity field, in this example 3). The starting number can be adjusted, but the ending number will always be the starting number + the transaction quantity. (Serial numbers will always be sequential for the transaction)
The ‘Create Serial Number’ functionality can be run once per Job.

Assigning Serial Numbers to the Sales Order
Is there a way to assign a serial number to a sales order? “Serial Number Assignment” only assigns it to the job.
No, there is not.
Why are you trying to add a SN to an Order? SNs can only be attached to Parts.

“Serial Number” in Epicor is used for specific item tracking for parts, and each number is unique to the part it’s assigned to.
Depending on what you’re trying to accomplish, there are a couple of different answers. If you want to assign Serial Numbers to the parts at the time of shipment only, you need to set Serial Tracking at the Site Configuration to “Outbound Only” (and there are other parameters that may apply as well).
If you want to know which parts shipped against which sales order, you might consider using Lot Tracking instead of Serial Tracking.

Dec 2, 2020 · The part requires Serial Tracking ticked on Part Maintenance. Once ticked, raise a job through Job Entry, specify the quantity then go to Serial Number Assignment.
Jan 14, 2019 · Go to Part Maintenance for that Part and click on the Serial Number Mask button and check if the mask is set properly. Mark W. This happens to us occasionally as well. Even if it says the mask is correct, switch it, save and switch it back. It is also located in Part Maintenance>Part>Sites>Details.
Nov 25, 2019 · Click the create serial number tab, click the add new serial number radio button (under options), then change the number relating to the serial number you want to add. Based on your masking rules it will display the next number to add.

If a serial number does not appear with its product, fix it with the Assign Serial number function in the Posting Menu. When all the S-type Tally items have serial numbers assigned, you may complete the order as usual.
The Serial Number Viewer (SNV) is a new viewer which displays serial numbers for a specific SKU or for all SKUs. View serial numbers based on their status: Available, Sold, or All.
Treat these reference numbers as serial numbers for products that need detailed inventory tracking. When you create stock receipts in BisTrack 6.0 and higher, you can assign unique reference numbers to use as Serial Numbers for items that have a Product type of Sheet Material and Sub type of Serialized.

Aug 2, 2017 · I believe you should be able to go into Serial assignment, Enter your job number. Click on the Serial numbers button. Move the wrong serial from the 'selected serial numbers' side to the 'available serials number' side.
